REHEARSALS ARE RESUMING! After weeks of careful and diligent preparations, we’re excited to resume in-person physically distanced rehearsals for our production of The Music Man, postponed from Spring 2020! We’ve remained committed to telling the story of Harold Hill, the fast talking travelling salesman who wins over the town of River City while getting his heart stolen by the town librarian.
We are very excited to step out from the wings and continue working with our incredible cast and team all the while strictly following the recommendations of Public Health Ontario and Toronto Public Health. This return to rehearsals will be different in many ways but we are looking forward to see how the power of storytelling will prevail through this ‘new normal’. Follow us on social media as we share the continuation of our The Music Man journey. It’s time again for the Mainstage community to join together in person and virtually to celebrate musical theatre and arts education!
ABOUT MEREDITH WILLSON'S THE MUSIC MAN The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize - this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American institution, thanks to its quirky characters, charmingly predictable dramatic situations and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads, which have become popular standards.
Though, for the safety of our participants and audience members, we were unable to find ourselves in the theatre in May 2020, we celebrated what would have been opening night for our production of The Music Man in a short video. Enjoy!
